Dieudonné Fokou was born in 1971 in Bamendjou, Cameroon. He lives and works in Yaoundé. His studio is located on the rock of Messassi.
Sculptor, painter and screen printer, Dieudonné Fokou was trained by two Cameroonian visual arts masters: Jean
Kouam Tawadje and Joseph Francis Sumégné.
His experiments with recycled sculptures have resulted in series such as : Adieu les guerres, La poésie du métal,
The digital destiny, entre l'œil et la matière.
Anxious to pass on his knowledge, he participates in theatrical, cinematographic and animation projects.
In his artworks, Dieudonné Fokou evokes the concept of coexistence and works around identities. He works on themes as diverse as peace, justice and human identity. He finds his inspiration in the human condition, his encounters and his experiences. He then literally gives new life to recycled materials (plastic, electronic cards, iron, copper).
Dieudonné Fokou develops a poetry of metal through his sculptures, playing with empty, full, plain, visible and invisible.
